Ironman Texas

Wow!  What a day!  Forty-one Finish Strong Coaching athletes toed the starting line at Lake Woodlands early Saturday morning, May 16 and forty made it to the finish line before midnight to hear Mike Reilly say his famous line, "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!"  Despite windy, hot and humid conditions, our athletes did their best and once again made us proud.  Rosario suffered a setback with cramping legs on the bike, but will be back next year to try again.

We had a whalloping 27 completing their first Ironman on Saturday. One of our newbies, Maclane Fulvio, won $100 for having the fastest swim time in her age group with a speedy time of 1:02. Zach Miller broke 10 hours and finished his race in 9:58.  One of our returning Ironman athletes, Ileana Carroll set a PR of over an hour and a half faster than her last year's Ironman Texas race!  Everyone was on their feet and cheering when Sarah Hartley finished her first Ironman race with just 10 minutes to spare before midnight.  Each athlete has a special story to tell about their journey to accomplish the incredibly challenging 140.6 mile race of swimming (2.4), biking (112) and running (26.2).

We hope to hear first-hand from each at our next open water swim at Lake Conroe on Wednesday, May 27th.  Details to follow.  Check our Facebook page for posts with more photos - Finish Strong Coaching.
