Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 10K

FSC's Jim Harrington reports, "Thankful to be able to run a 10k in the snow and ice at -6 for 8th place overall with a 49:09."

Katy YMCA 5K Turkey Dash

The Abascal family ran the Katy 5K Turkey Dash on Thanksgiving.  Ira reports, "Four months after my foot surgery, Thanksgiving day was my first race and it was a 5k Katy YMCA Turkey Dash. I happily ran with my husband and two sons and did a time of 30:17!"

Run Thru the Woods

62 Finish Strong athletes and their families were at the Run Thru the Woods Thanksgiving 5 mile, 3 mile, and 1 mile kid's run on November 27.  Gorgeous weather, pancakes from Egg and I, what more could one want?  Some photos and report results tabulated thanks to Russell Meyer (who also was first in the Clydesdale division in the 5 miler!)

Carl Holt wins his AG in 3 miler and his daughter Emma  ran the 5 mile and finished 7th in Female 10-14 with a time of 40:53.

Ironman Arizona

Ironman Arizona was held on Sunday, November 16 in Tempe. The cooler November race date made it an attractive event for over 3,000 triathletes who compete on the one-loop swim in Tempe Town Lake, the three-loop bike and the two-loop run. This year there were over 1,100 first-time competitors.

Finish Strong Coaching athletes were in the mix.  Kari Gilley had a great race placing in the top 10 of her AG finishing in 11:14:23.  Troy Cormier had a fine race finishing in 11:10:02.  Susan Hardwick-Smith did well and finished in 12:46:46. Manuel Abascal finished yet another Ironman in 15:04:23.  Dana Lyons had a great start coming off the bike 3rd in his AG, but hip and leg cramps led to his withdrawl form the race at mile 10 of the run.

Texas Tough Duathlon

The 1st annual Texas Tough Duathlon/5k Race Series takes place at the peak of autumn in the Texas Hill Country on Sunday, November 9 . The 5k starts at the renowned Scenic Loop Cafe and loops out into the beautiful hills of northwest San Antonio. The 21 Mile road ride will be on a hilly out and  back course.

Our daughter, Anna, competed in her first duathlon here - and won first collegiate woman!

Bel Inizio 5K

Disney Half Marathon

Congrats to Lara Dunlap-Font who set a new half marathon PR of 1:38:33 at wet race in Disney World on Saturday, November 9.

RWB - Red White & Blue 5K

Congrats to FSC's John McGowan who ran a 23:20 for the 5K RWB Veteran's Run at Northshore Park on Saturday, November 8.  It was a PR for John and he took placed 1st in his age group (40-44).

Houston Half Marathon

Congrats to Finish Strong Coaching's Katerina Savelieva, Claudia McMeeken, and Aisha Hassan all ran the Houston Half Marathon held on October 26.

Aisha reports, "We ran the Houston Half Marathon this morning. No PR/AG but it was great warm-up for our next race "Th Classical 25k" on Nov. 16th. Flat course, good weather, nice looking medals, cool beer at the finish line, fantastic view of downtown Houston, and awesome time running with friends...what more can one ask for?"

DRC Half Marathon

FSC's Ron McCauley completed the DRC half marathon in  PR time of 1:36:47, a 7:23/mile pace.
Ron reports, "I ran mid-7:20's first half and slowly picked up pace at mile 8 and ran 13th mile in 6:58. Weather was in the mid 40s and breezy on and off around White Rock Lake."  Way to go, Ron!

NYC Marathon

Congrats to Finish Strong's Alan Jones and Rip Reynolds who accomplished the New York
City marathon held on Sunday, November 2 along with 50,000 other runners.  Despite very chilly temperatures and gusty winds, Alan and Rip both finished this major marathon.  Rip finished in 3:29:52.  Rip says, "Brutal wind - incredible race/experience!"  Alan finished a few minutes later in 3:33:40.  Alan reports, "Gutting it out at mile 24 in Central Park for a 19 minute PR despite 42 degree temps and 23 mph winds.  Hills and bridges quite humbling."

Congrats to Finish Strong's Kevin Baker and Katerina Savelieva for their podium finishes at Texas 10 Katy.   Katerina came in 2nd in her AG and 7th overall at the 5 mile race in 41:42.7.  Kevin reports, "She felt so good she ran an additional 5 miles after finishing."  And 2nd place AG for Kevin Baker in the 10 mile race with 1:04:52.8 (missing PR by 1.8seconds).  A winning weekend for this couple!

Ironman Florida

Ironman Florida was off to a rough start today (November 1).  The swim was cancelled due to high winds and rip current, so triathletes like Finish Strong's Yevgeniy Nikulin started the race with a windy bike.  Eugene finished the bike in 7:15:68, his run in 5:59:07 for an overall time of 13:26:04.  Any pics:?

Rocky Raccoon Trail Run

Finish Strong's Ronnie Delzer was the overall winner of the Rocky Raccoon Trail Run 50K held in Huntsville on Saturday, November 1.  His amazing win with a huge gap on the competition saw him cross the finish line in 3:50.

Ronnie reports, "In the last three miles I put an 8-10 minute gap on second place.  It was the greatest feeling of satisfaction crossing the finish line in first knowing I had to work hard and adapt to a bunch of changing circumstances."
