Volunteers Needed for Oilman Tri this Sunday, Nov 4th

Check out this e-mail from fellow Finish Strong team member and Lonestar Multisport Volunteer Coordinator:

"As we've mentioned in our past few newsletters, the Oilman Triathlon is coming up Sunday, November 4th and Lonestar Multisport will once again be responsible for providing the volunteer team on the run course.  The event is a half-iron distance with the run leg starting between 9 and 10am.  Given the length of the event, we will have two shifts of 15 people meaning we'll need a total of 30 volunteers.  The first shift would need to arrive around 8:45am and stay until noon.  The second shift would work from 11:45am to the end of the race, usually by 3pm, but it could be earlier.

The Oilman organizers have come to count on our reliable support and large turnout of volunteers over the past few years.  This is a great way to support our fellow triathletes and help an awesome event in our own backyard.  Please consider assisting during one or both of the shifts.  It's a fun and exciting time!

If you can assist, please email  me - Jody Gaddy at jodygaddy@comcast.net indicating which shift you can work (i.e. Early Shift - 8:45-12:00 or Late Shift - 11:45-3:00).  Also, please include your shirt size as I should be able to get your volunteer t-shirts in advance.

Thank you in advance and I hope to see you out there November 4th.

Thanks,

Jody Gaddy

Chicago Marathon

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for elite athletes and everyday runners alike. On Sunday, October 7, 2012, runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries set out to accomplish a personal dream. Among them were two Finish Strong athletes: Chris Wendt who finished the event in 3:29:17 and Daryl Parker who finished in 3:42.  Congrats on this achievement!

temperature was in the high 80's but I thought it was good for racing."

 Congrats, Willy!!

Willy wins his AG at ITU Triathlon Cancun held on October 6th!

Du the Bear

Finish Strong Racing's Tommy Behe, Winston Cervantes, and Rip Reynolds braved the cold temperatures adn triumphed at the Du the Bear duathlon held Oct. 7th at Bear Breek Pioneer Park in Katy.

Winston reports, "Solid performance put up by the FSR athletes with all their total times at sub 1. Tough field of contenders this year looks like, judging from the finishing times compared to the previous years. The weather was cold and windy, which nevertheless made the closed, flat course fast and furious. Or, short and sweet. This is definitely a sprinter's race, that requires T1 and T2 skills i.e. putting in and getting off shoes while riding. Or, having a caged pedal for running shoes!"

Here's the results for FSR athletes:

Thomas Behe
Run 1: 13:08.8 • Bike: 30:12.9 • Run 2:  13:31.4 • Total Time: 58:28.7 •  Age Group Rank: 4th
