Clearlake Olympic and Sprint Tri

Congrats to Finish Strong athletes who competed at Clear Lake Olympic and Sprint Tri held on Saturday, August 23. Lots of podium finishes.  In the Olympic distance race, Susan Hardwick-Smith finished 2nd in her AG; Lisanne Rogers 5th; and Sara Binau 3rd.  In the sprint race, Will Blackbird took 2nd in his AG and Alan Jones competed in the sprint mixed relay called Alyssa and Co. took 2nd.

Here's a report from Alan Jones on the relay.  Finish Strong’s Alan Jones and Father /Daughter teammates Alex and Alyssa Burch competed Saturday in the Mixed Relay Olympic Triathlon ( 1500 meter swim , 14.3 mile bike (cut in ½ due to construction) and a 10k run) and were able to finish strong and take 2nd place in the Mixed Relay.

This was Alyssa’s first open water swim and triathlon and swam an impressive 24:10 for the 1500 meters . Alan was next for the bike leg and hammered away at a 35:11 bike finish averaging almost 24mph.  Alex took the chip and gutted it out in the hot and humid 10k for a 51:58 min and overall finish 1:53:03 securing them a 2nd place podium finish! Alyssa had the fastest swim among all Relays and 2nd of all females. Alan was 2nd fastest of all Relays and 4th overall on the bike leg.
