Kiwanis Kids Tri

The Kiwanis Kids Tri was held at the S. Montgomery County YMCA for ages 7-12 on July 27 in The Woodlands.  Among the kids competing was Spencer Clouthier, 8 years old, who conquered the 50 meter swim, 1 mile bike, and 1/4 mile in just 9:50.   Spencer Clouthier, who participated in Finish Strong Coaching's Youth Summer Tri Camp, came in 5th among all the 8 year old boys.

Way to go, Spencer!

Tri Waco

Finish Strong's Dana Lyons and Tim Vibrock qualified for USAT Olympic distance nationals by putting in great races at the Tri Waco Olympic distance tri held on Sunday, July 28.  Dana won the grandmaster's division and 9th overall in a time of 2:16:24 (pictured below).   Tim came in 2nd in his 50-54 AG in 2:22:28.
Susan Hardwick-Smith came in 5th in her 45-49 AG in a time of 3:06:16.  Tami Fincher did her first Olympic and had a great time finishing in 3:30:25.

PIttsburgh Triathlon & Adventure Race

Congratulations to Finish Strong's husband-and-wife duo Sara and Alan Jones who raced the Pittsburgh triathlon sprint distance race (600 m swim 20k bike 5k run) on July 27.

Sara placed 1st 35-39 age group. Sara was able chase down her age group opponent who led the race untill the last 1/4 mile where she succombed to sara's blazing speed to clinch 1st in her AG for her 1st podium finish and only in her 3rd triathlon debut ever.

Alan placed 2nd 40-44 age group and 22nd overall.

Okoboji Tri

Finish Strong Coaching's Becca Novelli was the overall female winner of the Okoboji Triathlon held on July 20.  The tri featured a .6 mile swim, an 18 mile bike around West Lake Okoboji, and a 4.5 mile run finishing at the State Pier in Arnold's Park. Becca finished in 1:38:57.  Way to go!

10 for Texas Group Begins!

Our 10 for Texas Run Group met for our first group training session on Saturday.  Great looking bunch!  Don't miss out!  Feel free to join us.  

Katy Flatland Ride

Finish Strong's Ira and Manuel Abascal biked the Katy Flatland Ride.  Ira did 68 miles in 4:04.  Manuel biked 100 miles in 5:39.  A very enjoyable ride!

Mizuno Wear Test at 6am at Luke's Locker on Tuesday, July 23rd!

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 23) Luke's Locker in Market Street in The Woodlands is hosting a Mizuno wear test for the newly released Sayonara! This shoe is replacing the Mizuno Precision & has received good reviews. All runners are invited to stop by tomorrow morning at 6am to do a free test run. Snacks & juice provided post run.
