Bahrain Challenge Series 70.3

Congrats to Finish Strong's Jerry Palmer and Lars Finanger who raced 70.3 Bahrain on Saturday, December 6th.  Jerry finished in 52nd in his 45-49 AG with an overall time of 6:13:38.  Jerry's splits were 40:31 swim;  2:56:21 bike and 2:26:53 run. Lars placed 30th overall and 3rd in his AG in an overall time of  4:10:06.  Lar's splits were 26:21 swim; 2:10:00 bike and 1:28:06 run.

Jerry (on right) with Sheik Nasser Hammad.  Jerry comments, "6:13 finish time, pro winner finished in 3:35! Best part of the race, 2013 Ironman World Champ Pete Jacobs handing out medals and meeting Sheik Nasser Hamad, a super triathlete and very nice and gracious host."

Jerry reports, "Last race of the year so gave it 100%. Great swim for me, 40 minutes. Hammered on the bike and finished in 2:54 and a respectable 2:26 run. 6:13 is actually a 70.3 PR for me. After grinding out so many long races it was fun to just let it loose a little. The event itself was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Kona is Kona but the $ spent and attention to detail at this race was incredible. Met tons of pros and the Prince of Bahrain. It was like going to a baseball fantasy camp for triathletes."

Lars (middle) at finish line with Andreas Klingler and Zibi Szlufcik at Bahrain International Circuit.

Lars commented, "Very cool to see another major event in the Middle East. Growing up a short drive across the Bahrain-Saudi Arabia Causeway made me consider a long course race again. A huge draw for expats living, working and training in Saudi Arabia and other ME countries."
