Sylvan Beach Duathlon and Triathlon

On Sunday, June 9, Finish Strong Racing athletes had a great showing at the Sylvan Beach Duathlon and Triathlon.  The duathlon race featured a 2 mile run, 15 mile bike, and 3 mile run.

Dana Lyons won the entire race with an overall time of 1:09:43.
Nora Wilson won her 55-59 age group by a whopping 11 minutes.

Other FSR athletes competed in the triathlon with a 500 meter swim, 15 mile bike and 3 mile run..

Tim Thurman finished in 1:20:24 - 6th in his competitive 30-34 AG.
Michael Collins won his 40-44 AG in a time of 1:10:33!
Tami Fincher came in 5th in her 45-49 AG in a time of 1:40:23.
Bryan Bandeko came in 4th in his 45-49 AG in a time of 1:16:17.
Charlie Schubert came in 4th in his 55-59 AG in 1:22:05.
Ann Erickson had an amazing race finishing 1st in her 70+ AG in 1:26:38.

Nora reports, "The race begins and ends on Sylvan Beach in LaPorte, which is easy to get to.  Both run segments are flat out-and-back through a residential area.  The second run, being a mile longer, takes the athletes just past the entrance to beautiful Morgan's Point (home of the Yellow Rose of Texas) where they make a U-turn and head back to the beach.  The bike course is fun, fast and flat except for an overpass which participants go over twice.  Duathletes share the bike and run courses with the triathletes.  Every athlete was received at the finish line with an ice cold towel and a post-race party with music, pizza, cookies, fruit, MuscleMilk and ice cream!"
