Escape from Alcatraz

Team FSR's Tim Vibrock and Winston Cervantes survived Escape from Alcatraz triathlon held on Sunday, March 3.  The 2013 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon featured a 1.5-mile swim through frigid waters from Alcatraz Island to the shores of the St. Francis Yacht Club, a grueling 18-mile bike ride, and a demanding 8-mile run through the trails of the Golden Gate Recreational Area.

Despite an extremely competitive field, Tim took 6th in his 50-54 AG with an overall time of 2:50:47.  Tim reported that he learned a lot from veterans of this race and can't wait to qualify to do it again next year.  Tim's splits were 35:41 swim; 1:03:41 bike; 2:50 sand ladder; 1:02:22 run.

Winston also survived this grueling race.  He finished in 3:10:09.  His splits were 44:02 swim, 1:05:55 bike; 3:16 sand ladder; 1:06:13 run.  Congrats!
