Thirty-three Finish Strong athletes participated at CB&I triathlon, the popular sprint triathlon held on Saturday, May 1 in The Woodlands. Thirteen FSR athletes enjoyed podium finishes and many others achieved personal best race performances.
Coach Dana Lyons, 52, led the way taking home the overall age group win with a time of 1:04:15. Dana was joined by other Finish Strong athletes Allan Richardson, Tom Schwartzkopf, and Kent Morris swept the M 50-54 age group by finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Mike Bard took 1st place in the men's 30-39 Clydesdale division with a time of 1:10:37.
Other podium finishers included Hannah Barron placing 3rd in the female 1-19 age group. This is even more impressive when you consider Hannah is only 12. Rodrigo Abascal took 2nd in the male 1-19 age group. In the male 25-29 age group, Scott Peterson took 2nd with a time of 1:08:25.
Tim Monk placed 2nd in the men's 35-39 age group. Patrick Sexton took 2nd in the men's 40-44 age group.
Jim Harrington and Ed York placed 2nd and 3rd in the men's 45-49 age group.
Cindy McMannis took home 3rd place in the female 50-54 age group.
In addition to the podium finishes, many athletes achieved personal bests. Kent Morris, Carolyn Barron, and David Kayda enjoyed shaving off 8-10 minutes from their efforts at this race last year.
