An estimated 13,000 cyclists made the 2-day, 180-mile journey from Houston to Austin as part of the 26th Annual BP MS 150 supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Cyclists began at Houston on April 17 and finish the race in downtown Austin on April 18, following an overnight celebration in La Grange. One of the participants was Finish Strong athlete Steve Hardy.
Steve reports that he had an inauspicious start to the race. He was clipped at mile 8 by a speeding police car traveling in the opposite direction down the street and was violently separated from his bike. Steve suffered some road rash, but both bike and rider continued on to finish the journey.
