Finish Strong Coaching Acquires SelecTRI
Finish Strong Coaching Acquires SelecTRI Offering More Opportunities
for Youth and Junior Triathletes
Finish Strong Coaching, a premier multisport training
organization led by Dana Lyons, is proud to announce its recent acquisition of
SelecTRI, a youth and junior triathlon team directed by Mindy Reich, effective
January 1, 2016. The acquisition will provide a continuum of training for
athletes of all levels from beginners to elite and from age six to adults. Combined
forces will provide SelecTRI’s youth and junior team a wider array of coaching
experience and guidance. A larger group will also be more appealing to
corporate sponsorships which are critical to help offset the expense of
traveling for younger elite athlete. This will position SelecTRI to expand and
grow to a national prominence in the youth and junior arena.
SelecTRI was the first youth and junior team in The Woodlands
awarded the designation of a USA Triathlon (USAT) High Performance Team. High
Performance Teams (HPT) play an integral role in the identification,
recruitment, development, and age-appropriate competitive preparation of
emerging youth elite, junior elite, and U23 athletes. USAT selects teams with
the goal of developing well-rounded athletes capable of success at the highest
levels of competition and progression within the USAT High Performance Program.
“There’s no question that SelecTRI is one of the premier
youth/junior teams in the country. We are excited to build upon Mindy’s legacy
by lending additional coaching expertise to further help young athletes reach
their goals – whether beginners reaping the benefits of a healthy triathlon lifestyle
or youth and junior elites chasing their Olympic dream.” Said Lyons.
Reich, who will be staying on to help with the transition,
agrees. “Finish Strong Coaching is a wonderful choice to continue the
program. Dana is a dedicated
professional coach who has successfully coached hundreds of triathletes of all
ages and abilities. The combined coaching resources of Finish Strong Coaching
and SelecTRI will greatly benefit our SelecTRI youth.”

The North Face 50 Miler
Congrats to Finish Strong's Ronnie Delzer who ran The North Face 50 mile race on Saturday, December 5th in San Rafael, California.
Here's a quick race report summary from Ronnie, "Quick recap to today's TNF 50 mile race... Stuck to my plan at the beginning being conservative and letting the lead pack go off the front with the intentions of picking them off the last 15 miles. Wiped out really hard down a rocky dirt trail at mile four running sub 6 pace (not fun). A few more nasty falls between mile 25-28 and then ran scared (not part of the plan) and in quite a bit of pain from 28-35 (wah wah wahhh). I was so disappointed with my splits at that point that I got really angry and ran mad. This was actually very effective as It got me back into the zone (will try this more often). The last 15 miles were executed per my race plan and I was able to catch a few runners. My goal was to finish in less than 7 hours, but I'm happy that I was able to bounce back and finish strong. As a rookie to running hills I learned a ton that will definitely make me a better runner for future races of this caliber. I also left with a much higher pain tolerance smile emoticon. I believe I was 35th overall and official time of 7:32:... Thank you everyone for your support and well wishes over the past few days."
