Ironman Cozumel

"You are an Ironman" was announced to Finish Strong's Stephen Clouthier, Willy Ocejo, Amy Antley, and Casey Clark as they crossed the finish line at Ironman Cozumel on Sunday, November 25.  The swim conditions were brutal with a strong current causing the race directors to cut the swim distance short by 400 meters for the safety of the athletes. This did not stop Stephen, Willy, Amy and Casey from prevailing.  Here are the results:

Fredericksburg 10K Turkey Trot

Finish Strong Racing's Sarah Pietraszek-Mattner not only finished strong, but also had a PR and took 2nd in her age group at the Fredericksburg 10K Turkey Trot.  She finished in 52:51:38.  Way to go, Sarah!!

 

Sugarland Turkey Trot 5 Mile

Finish Strong's Michelle Howard ran the Sugarland Turkey Trot 5 mile race.  Michelle reports, "I can't believe I ran so fast!!! 1-8:54, 2-9:00 3-8:43, 4-8:36, 5-8:14, last .05 miles-7:54 I felt good. Happy Thanksgiving!!"  Michelle, you rock!

Ironman Arizona

Congratulations to Finish Strong Racing athletes who competed in Ironman Arizona on November 18.  Susan Hardwick-Smith (12:45:00 in her 1st IM), Shannon Crowe (12:20:26), Kari Gilley (11:22:07), Don Cole (12:24:12) and Michael Collins (11:19:04) all did a great job at Ironman Arizona.  BTW, this was Michael's 9th Ironman Arizona race -- he has competed in this race since its inception.

Dallas 8 Mile Turkey Trot

Congratulations to Finish Strong's Bret Strong who competed in the Dalls 8 Mile Turkey Trot.  Bret finished in 1:08:23 for 8.09 miles for a 8:27/mile pace.  Way to go, Bret! 

Katy YMCA Turkey Dash 10K

Congratulaton to Ira DeAquino for setting a personal record at the Katy YMCA Turkey Dash 10k.  Ira finished in 54:56 -- 11th in her AG!  Well done, Ira!!  Any pics?

Back-to-back races for Coopers

In addition to running the Run through the Woods on Thursday (43:20 for 5 miles at 8:40 pace), Rich Cooper went on to run the Conroe Turkey Trot 5K the next day.  Rich finished in 25:55 for a 8:21 pace and 1ST PLACE finish in his 45-49 AG.  Rich caught the guy in front of him in the last 200 yards of the race.  Rich's son, Davis, also finished his first 5K in 38 minutes in addition to the 1 mile Run thru the Woods in 9:21 the day.  Way to go Davis family!!!  Any pics?

 

TXU Turkey Trot 10K and 5K

Finish Strong's Pamela Ferguson ran the TXU Turkey Trot 10K.  She finished in 49:32, a new 10k PR by 3 whole minutes. Way to go, Pamela.

Finish Strong's Victor Kaiser ran the 5K race in 44:48.  Congrats, Vic!!

GE Run Thru the Woods - 5 Miler

Woodlands Girls and Boys Teams Bound for NXN!

The team of Madi McLellan, Ashley Guidot, Grace Huryn, Cara Zuspan, Anna Lyons, Katie Willard, and Abbey Piontek will represent The Woodlands at Nationals!

Congrats to The Woodlands!  Both boys and girls cross-country qualified for nationals by finishing 2nd at the NXN South Regional event held at Bear Branch park on Saturday, November 17.  Both teams head for Portland, Oregon on December 1st for NXN - Nike Cross Nationals!

HMSA Classical 25K

Turkey Trot in Oahu

Finish Strong Racing's Chantal Requier competed in the turkey trot race at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii on the Island of Oahu. Chantal placed first in her AG and 4th overall with a personal best of  44:12.  Way to go, Chantal!!

 

San Antonio Marathon

Finish Strong's Taylor Riall ran the San Antonio Marathon on Sunday, November 11.  She crossed the finish line in 1:42:25 - placing 6th in her 40-44 AG.  That's 6th out of 1513 women in her age group and 69 of all 10046 women!  Way to go, Taylor!

RWB Veteran's Day 10K

Finish Strong athletes raced in the RWB Veteran’s Day 10k on Saturday, November 10 in The Woodlands.  The results were as follows;

Kim Mac Namee – 38:48 / 6:09min / mile (Watch Time) – Placed Overall 1^st Female

Richard Mac Namee – 44:38 / 7:11min/mile (Watch Time) Placed 1^st AG 45-49 (Richard ran in combat boots and fatigues to honor his fellow veterans)

Charlie Schuber - 50:23.  Placed 7th in 50-54 AG

Leela Duncan - 53:20.4.  Placed 2nd in 45-49 AG

Katherine Powell -    57:42.  Placed 4th in 50-54 AG

Nora Wilson won her 55-59 AG with a time of 23:13.
